Principal’s Message

Dear Friends and Families of Los Ranchos,
I hope you were able to attend the Los Ranchos Celebration of Science and Inventions. Ninety-one inventors and scientists created beautiful displays of their experiments and best thinking. Participants had an opportunity to answer questions and present their findings to interested parents and inquisitive schoolmates. I want to thank the students and families who participated.  A special thanks goes to Mr. Becker and Mrs. Gomes for organizing the event!
We have a fun event coming up next week. We hope that you and your children come on Thursday, May 4, for STEAM Night. There will be many activities for you to construct and create, play with and puzzle over. All students are welcomed, but they must be accompanied with a parent/grandparent/guardian. STEAM Night is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room.
We have the 10th Annual Paul Reinhardt Bike Parade on Friday morning, May 5th. All students are invited to ride. Those who can’t ride will be cheering on the riders. It is especially fun when students decorate their bikes. Balloons are not allowed in the spirit of keeping this safe and fun for everyone. This is a fun event for parents. We always need a few extra hands around the bike ramps. We hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Marlie Schmidt

Principal’s Message

Dear Friends and Families of Los Ranchos,
Spring break is here! There are many fun opportunities when you return. Please make sure you check out the list below and mark your calendars.
We have a new event coming up on May 4th. We will be hosting our first Family STEAM Night on May 4th from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This will be a fun event for the whole family. Students must attend with an adult family member, similar to Family Math Night.  We hope to have a full house. Please join us!
Students enjoyed some exploration of hands on science today during a Science Safari in our multi-purpose room.  Every class circulated through the multitude of learning opportunities. It was a great way to wrap up the last day of school before spring break. I want to thank all the parents who helped to make it go smoothly and to you, our PTA, for funding it.
We hope you have a restful and memorable spring break.
Sincerely,
Marlie Schmidt

Principal’s Message

Dear Friends and Families of Los Ranchos,
It was great to have so many parents attend the last Parents’ Coffee. Mary Kay Stratton shared with parents the strategies that she teaches our students in Steps to Respect. She talked about calming down strategies, problem solving strategies and understanding the difference between conflicts and bullying.  Thank you everyone for making the time to participate. The presentation was very informative and a great time to make connections with other parents.

Help Still Needed
  • We are excited to have Tim Choal as our afternoon Crossing Guard. We appreciate his support! We are still looking for someone to greet our students and keep them safe in the morning at the crosswalk. In addition, we are looking for a parent, or community member, who would like to join our Noon Supervisor Team at lunch and /or morning crossing guard. The morning crossing position is 30-40 minutes before school and the yard duty position is one hour a day, from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. We are looking for  five days a week, but we welcome anyone who is interested in 2 to 5 days a week.   It is a great way to become involved in our school community and support a happy and positive lunch/recess time.
Donations
Since the weather is warming up, we have kids who need water bottles when they overheat. If any parents are able to donate some bottled water for the office to distribute it would be very appreciated.
